At Wayfinders, we are working towards a community where every child has access to quality education and the opportunities it affords.

In our first two years as an organization, we have seen what is possible when children get the support they need to thrive.

93%

of the children we served demonstrated grade-level reading within just 12 weeks of intensive reading intervention.

  • 1:1 Support for Students

In the past two years, Wayfinders has supported more than 100 children through reading intervention, speech-language therapy, and occupational therapy, removing financial barriers to high-quality care. On average, children spend just 16 weeks in the program—a brief chapter in their story that can change the entire trajectory of their lives.

  • Dyslexia Screenings

Early identification changes lives. Through dyslexia screenings, schools gained critical insight, ensuring children receive support before they fall behind.

  • Partnership with West End School

In 2025, Wayfinders deepened our reading intervention work at West End School: providing assessments, individualized plans, progress monitoring, and one-on-one support.

But what made the difference went beyond reading. Wayfinders showed up with consistency, cultural responsiveness, and a whole-child approach, building trust, confidence, and genuine connection with students, teachers, and families.

  • Summer Fine Arts Lab

Last summer, six children with learning differences attended our Fine Arts Lab, modeled after the Lab School in Washington, D.C. Thanks to donor support, they found joy, confidence, and belonging through creativity. Their smiles said everything.

  • St. Joseph Children’s Home

This year, we launched speech therapy services at St. Joseph Children’s Home—supporting early language development before age five, when it matters most.

In partnership with St. Joe’s Caregiver Education Series and with support from Metro United Way, we are providing six evening sessions to equip families with tools, knowledge, and hope.

  • Holiday Books

For the second year in a row, every child in our program received a personally selected book for the holidays. The wish list was filled in under an hour. The joy on their faces was unforgettable.

  • Partnerships that Wrap Families in Care

Our work is strengthened by partners who help meet families’ broader needs, from food to clothing to essential resources.

Partner Spotlight

Wayfinders x West End School

“This school year, our partnership with Waypoint has been nothing short of transformative. From the beginning, the Waypoint team integrated seamlessly into our school community, offering consistent and compassionate support beyond academic interventions.

Waypoint’s work with reading interventions—including taking on individual caseloads, conducting initial assessments, and monitoring student progress—was executed with a level of dedication and expertise that made a significant difference in our students' growth. Their commitment to one-on-one support and their partnership with teachers to make informed educational decisions directly impacted how we structured small groups and tailored learning experiences.

“What set this partnership apart, however, was Waypoint’s whole-child approach. They didn’t just come to teach reading—they came to build trust, connection, and confidence. They brought encouragement, hope, and positivity into every room they entered.

Their staff built genuine relationships with our boys, recognizing and honoring their identities while maintaining a high level of cultural responsiveness and awareness. They were consistent, flexible, and deeply communicative—always showing up, always smiling, and always ready to help.

Their support extended beyond the classroom as well. Whether assisting with special events like our Sneaker Ball or the Admissions Assessment Event, Waypoint was there, offering both manpower and joy and genuine investment in our community.

We are especially excited about continuing this partnership as we open our girls' school, knowing that Waypoint's dedication and care will benefit even more students and staff. It’s clear that Waypoint is more than just a partner—they are now a part of the WES family. We are incredibly grateful and look forward to growing together in the years ahead.”

Give for Good Louisville 2025

Wayfinders was proud to participate again in Give for Good Louisville, a community-wide day of giving hosted by the Community Foundation of Louisville. Thanks to our matching gift sponsors, Trager Family Foundation and Lift a Life Novak Family Foundation, and the support of generous donors, the day fueled months of impact. Give for Good strengthened our ability to support more families in meaningful, life-changing ways.
