At Wayfinders, we are working towards a community where every child has access to quality education and the opportunities it affords.

In our first year as an organization, we saw what is possible when children get the support they need to thrive.

93%

of the children we served demonstrated grade-level reading within just 12 weeks of intensive reading intervention.

  • 1:1 Support for Students

Wayfinders provided 1:1 support to 31 children in our first year. The majority of these children received reading intervention. We also provided speech and occupational therapy to children whose families faced financial barriers in accessing the support their children needed.

  • Partnership with West End School

In fall 2024, we launched our partnership with West End School and provided reading intervention for 10 boys in 1st through 5th grade. Informed by the school's MAP testing and our own individualized assessments, we created tailored learning plans for each student. We saw incredible results!

  • Summer Fine Arts Lab

Six children explored learning in new ways through our Fine Arts Lab for children with dyslexia, modeled after the Lab School in Washington D.C. We believe there is power in diversity, and the Fine Arts Lab provided a space for children to challenge each other’s assumptions and offer different perspectives. The children who attended through Wayfinders would otherwise not have been able to participate due to financial barriers.

  • Partnership with Glow Worm

Wayfinders partnered with Glow Worm Play Cafe to facilitate a Sensory Playgroup for children and a Parent Social Group. Led by two occupational therapists and a speech-language therapist, Wayfinders planned activities, shared current research, answered questions about child development, and demonstrated strategies in a judgment-free space.

Partner Spotlight

Wayfinders x West End School

“This school year, our partnership with Waypoint has been nothing short of transformative. From the beginning, the Waypoint team integrated seamlessly into our school community, offering consistent and compassionate support beyond academic interventions.

Waypoint’s work with reading interventions—including taking on individual caseloads, conducting initial assessments, and monitoring student progress—was executed with a level of dedication and expertise that made a significant difference in our students' growth. Their commitment to one-on-one support and their partnership with teachers to make informed educational decisions directly impacted how we structured small groups and tailored learning experiences.

“What set this partnership apart, however, was Waypoint’s whole-child approach. They didn’t just come to teach reading—they came to build trust, connection, and confidence. They brought encouragement, hope, and positivity into every room they entered.

Their staff built genuine relationships with our boys, recognizing and honoring their identities while maintaining a high level of cultural responsiveness and awareness. They were consistent, flexible, and deeply communicative—always showing up, always smiling, and always ready to help.

Their support extended beyond the classroom as well. Whether assisting with special events like our Sneaker Ball or the Admissions Assessment Event, Waypoint was there, offering both manpower and joy and genuine investment in our community.

We are especially excited about continuing this partnership as we open our girls' school, knowing that Waypoint's dedication and care will benefit even more students and staff. It’s clear that Waypoint is more than just a partner—they are now a part of the WES family. We are incredibly grateful and look forward to growing together in the years ahead.”
